ongress President Mallikarjun Kharge Criticizes Modi Government Over Security Concerns

New Delhi, July 30: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has raised serious concerns about the current government’s handling of national security issues, particularly regarding the ongoing threats from China and Pakistan. In a strong critique issued on Tuesday, Kharge urged the Centre to take Parliament into confidence on these matters, accusing the Narendra Modi administration of neglecting its responsibility to safeguard India’s strategic interests.

Kharge highlighted recent developments that he believes have exposed the Modi government’s “rank apathy” towards national security. He pointed out that China has constructed and operationalized a bridge connecting the north and south banks of Pangong Lake, which, according to him, provides China with a strategic advantage close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Additionally, he noted that China has begun building a new village in the Demchok sector, an area already contentious following the Galwan clashes.

Addressing the situation with Pakistan, Kharge questioned the government’s response to terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. He alleged that there have been 25 terror attacks in the region since Prime Minister Modi assumed office, resulting in the death of 15 soldiers and injuries to 27 others. Kharge also noted that Pakistani-sponsored terrorism has now spread to new districts, including Doda, Kathua, and Reasi, with civilian casualties reaching levels not seen in two decades.

“These are extremely serious and sensitive issues of national security,” Kharge emphasized, calling for a united and collective approach to address these threats. He argued that the Modi government’s approach, characterized by “false bravado and hollow propaganda,” has failed to adequately protect India’s strategic interests.

Kharge’s comments underscore the growing opposition concern over how the current administration is handling critical security challenges and the perceived lack of transparency with Parliament.
