High-Ranking International Delegations to Attend Inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian

On Tuesday, the inauguration of Iran’s newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian will be marked by the presence of high-ranking dignitaries from nearly 80 countries, according to Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of the national security and foreign policy commission of the Iranian parliament. This significant event will be held at the Majlis (parliament) building, where Pezeshkian will take the oath of office, as stipulated by Article 121 of the Iranian Constitution.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that the Russian delegation will be led by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin. The ceremony is set to be attended by 11 parliamentary speakers, four deputy speakers, six prime ministers, two presidents, and various ministers from around the world. Boroujerdi highlighted the significance of such high-level participation, noting that the presence of these international guests reflects deep respect and is not a compulsory requirement.

The inauguration will commence at 16:00 local time (12:30 GMT) and will be extensively covered by 600 journalists from both Iranian and international media outlets. The ceremony will also include attendees such as parliamentarians, members of the Council of Guardians of the Constitution, and judiciary heads.

President Pezeshkian’s ascension follows a series of events triggered by the tragic death of President Ebrahim Raisi, who passed away in a helicopter crash on May 19. The crash, which also claimed the lives of Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials, occurred in the northwest of Iran. The following morning, Vice President Mohsen Mansouri confirmed the fatalities, leading to the early presidential elections held in late June and early July.
